Anyway, I reckon I get some envy for being "... so friggin' smart" (DK). I saw this poll a few months back that listed some traits that people wished they had. Athleticism, intelligence, charm, among others. I chose athleticism. I remember, though, that something like 52% chose intelligence. So the grass is always greener on the other side.
SOME PEOPLE, I feel, don't have anything they want to like. (The ultimate irony being, I suppose, that I actually bought into that Amadeus theme of 'We're all mediocre'.) That being said, I think I'll put it out there that there are a lot of things in other people I wish I embodied. Danial's ease of nature, Kaitlyn's athleticism, Afzal's charm, Damien's musical ability. Something worth addressing.
The point is, there is no point in getting all depressed in yourself for lacking these things. There's too many of them. So don't.
Thanks for thinking before you open your mouth next time and saying, "God damnit I wish I was as good at math as you without studying." Because, god damnit, so do I.
i wish i was as good at math as you. period :P
ReplyDeleteDude. Jokes totally aside and that doesn't happen often, but this post is fucking insightful.
ReplyDeleteI raise my proverbial drink to you friend, for such a thoughtful post.
*laugh* Oi, abang, you DO realize that it's stuff like this that makes other people recognize you as smart? Because Danial's right... this post was insightful, and just so true.
ReplyDeleteWhat about my laziness?
ReplyDeleteOh wait... Jon beats me. DAMN.

ReplyDeletexD if you want a laugh you should read the post about heaters.
ReplyDeleteOne of your deeper posts. I like it :) I like to think that there's always someone better. Maybe a little depressing, but at least that should teach us not to have too high expectations?
ReplyDeleteAlthough one of my favorite quotes from Confessions of a Dangerous Mind would be: "very few have delusions of being a guy down the block who works for an insurance company."
Maybe insurance work should gain status...
